We were snuggling under a quilt in the sofa talking. It was way past midnight but luckily it wasn’t a school night, so I didn’t have to get up early next morning. Honestly, I never wanted the night to stop. I’d never felt so seen, heard and validated. I was 15—and although I didn’t exactly know what it was at the time, I was falling in love. To most people, it remains unconscious, and they struggle relationship after relationship to keep things together. Becoming aware is the first step. We can change the things we’re conscious about. Just be consistent in your endeavors, and be patient with yourself – it takes time to change old patterns/conditionings.
